about

So. I get ideas. I go with them, try different things out, work with structures and try try try. And sometimes all I am left with is the music. Hopefully there isn't much wrong with that.

And, so what if there is?

A truth I am having to face is my self critique of lyrics prevents me from exploring some directions for words. And yes, I judge others for their lyrics that are lame. So I administer my judgements to myself as well.

Anyway. It's the music that holds emotion. Words can make it more focused, or offer a different perspective on those emotions to expand the interpretation. So, meh. These songs don't have words and that's OK.

The progression in D came pretty close to words. They were there, and I could voice them, but when I went to put them to tape or paper they fell apart and deflected from the emotion. Maybe someday someone else will do better than I did, if I could be so presumptuous.

Of course, there are other songs. But as lame as these are, they are better and more complete than others I started and moved away from and forgot about. Not enough time in my life to get to everything.

Blah blah. Thanks for reading this far.

To study music is to study emotions, to practice how to capture them for study later, and how to present them to others for translation.
